Bulk is on an incredible journey, with a mission to move the business from a manufacturing-led retailer to a destination brand for active nutrition. We are shaking up the sports nutrition industry through disruptive marketing campaigns that help people think differently about our brand – and we want you to be a part of it!

We want passionate risk-takers. We want people that like to challenge our thinking. We want people that live and breathe digital and have an affinity to the world of nutrition, health, fitness, and sports.

IN A NUTSHELL

As a Data Engineer in our Marketing Insights team, you will transform fragmented data into clean, reusable products across key domains like customer behavior, marketing, and product performance. You will help design scalable pipelines, build tools that enable teams to trust and activate data, and collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, and Analytics to drive Bulk’s growth.

We’re looking for a data engineer excited to shape the future of consumer data, from sourcing and modeling to delivery and analysis. Together, we set standards, champion quality, and build data products the business can rely on with confidence.

You’ll work on meaningful projects where data directly supports marketing, product decisions, and customer experience, while having the space to develop your skills beyond engineering – particularly in analytics, visualisation, and cross-functional presentation. As part of a collaborative and focused team, you’ll be supported in an environment that values clarity, ownership, and growth.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
  • Data Pipeline Development

Design, build, and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines using tools like BigQuery, dbt, and Airflow.

  • Monitor performance and reliability, and make improvements as needed.

  • Data Integration

Ingest and integrate core business data sources (i.e. Adobe CDP, Emarsys, Magento, Paid Media platforms) to the central data warehouse (BigQuery).

  • Support projects involving customer data unification, segmentation, and campaign data flow in Adobe CDP.

  • Data Quality and Governance

Set up validation checks, resolve data quality issues, and maintain documentation.

  • Partner with the System Architect to align on governance standards and best practices.

  • Analytics and Visualisation Support

Collaborate with analysts and marketers to support Tableau dashboards and reporting.

  • Contribute to analysis around customer segmentation, marketing performance, and other business needs.

  • Collaborating with Teammates

Work closely with teams across the business to understand data needs and use cases.

  • Help them access and interpret the data they need, while maintaining performance and reliability end-to-end.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Experience (1–2 years): Proficient in SQL, Python, and API development, with a solid understanding of data structures and transformations.

  • Cloud & Data Engineering Skills: Experienced in data processing within cloud environments, preferably with exposure to Google Cloud Platform, dbt, and Airflow.

  • Adaptable Problem-Solver: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, tackling loosely defined challenges, and thriving in autonomous team environments.

  • Data Modeling: Strong data modeling capabilities and a product-oriented approach to treating data as a core asset.

  • Growth-Oriented: Eager to further develop skills in Consumer analytics, reporting, and data visualization.

  • Collaborator: Builds strong, positive relationships across both technical and business domains.

  • Curiosity: An absolute must for any successful candidate. Ask questions, seek out opportunities, and don’t be afraid to take the initiative, roll up your sleeves, and solve problems yourself.

WHAT ARE THE GAINS?
  • Monthly Bulk Bank Benefits Allowance including a subsidised Gym Membership
  • A day off to celebrate your Birthday
  • PerkBox Subscription
  • 60% discount on all Bulk products
  • Flexi Start
  • Additional Annual Leave (optional)

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
