Job Title: Cloud/Data Engineer

Location: London, UK

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: depending on experience


Our client is building a secure, scalable, and modern cloud platform with Microsoft Azure at its core. To support this vision, we are seeking a Cloud/Data Engineer with 2–3 years of experience to join their growing team.


This role is pivotal in enabling advanced data science capabilities and driving strategic impact through robust data platform solutions. You will work closely with the Data Platform Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize data infrastructure that powers cutting-edge research and analytics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cloud-based data solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and optimize data lakes and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Implement and manage data and machine learning platforms such as Databricks, Azure ML, and Synapse ML.
  • Support ML lifecycle management using tools like MLflow.
  • Ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient, aligned with compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to enable advanced analytics and AI workflows.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in cloud-based data engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Azure services.
  • Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure ML.
  • Understanding of ML lifecycle tools (e.g., MLflow) and Synapse ML.
  • Solid knowledge of data security, governance, and performance optimization.


Desirable

  • Exposure to Trusted Research Environments (TREs).
  • Experience with multi-cloud ecosystems.
  • Background in supporting scientific compute or research environments.
