We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an SCQF Level 6 Civil Engineer Technician Apprentice to join our dynamic NMC SW team.

Job Title: Civil Engineer Technician Apprentice - SCQF Level 6

Duration: 24 months

Starting Salary: 24,282 (subject to 2025 review)

Working Hours: Mon -Fri, 9am - 5pm

Location: Highfield Business Park, St Quivox, Ayr, Ayrshire, KA5 6HQ

What You'll Do:

To aid and support to the Area Network Team to safeguard the travelling public, client and Amey. To assist the Engineer in all activities relating to inspections, scheme preparation, site supervision and the production of reports that meet specified requirements whilst achieving programmed dates.
Ensure accurate and effective collation of data
Carry out inspections in accordance with the Well-Maintained Highways Code of General Practice
Ensure contract compliance on data quality management issues
Comply with the relevant health and safety legislation
Communication with third party claims team to provide evidence in the defence of third-party claims
Assist with the establishment and implementation of a programme of inspections and investigations
Assist with project administration as required
Record time accurately in project control systems
Liaise with the OCR and staff to ensure planning, operations and works are completed on time
Assist with the preparation of reports and documents as necessary
Provide accurate advice to relevant parties on procedures Why Join Us?

Qualifications
The apprenticeship entry requirements will be determined by Amey in collaboration with the academic
delivery partner.
England based applicants will typically require 3 A levels at grades A* to C including mathematics and physical science or an appropriate NVQ Level 3 qualification. Applicants based in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland should expect to demonstrate an equivalent level of academic qualifications to those required in England. Skills
Full driving license or aiming to obtain it.
Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS office suite
Has the appropriate technical skills and ability to successfully work within technical teams with high levels of quality.
Knowledge word, excel, PowerPoint, CAD
Good communication skills, with ability to successfully work within a team, undertaking internal & external discussions with local clients and other stakeholders. Experience
Gaining experience in highway inspections, assessment, and design schemes.
Gaining experience in the assessment/design of major construction materials, including historical materials
Gaining knowledge of current and relevant health & safety, environmental and sustainability legislation Behavioural competencies
Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally.
