IDBS is one of the 10 Life Sciences companies of Danaher. Together, we accelerate the discovery, development and delivery of solutions that safeguard and improve human health.

Do you want to work in a dynamic, fast paced, high performing, safe to fail and fun environment which is founded on trust, empowerment and autonomy? Are you passionate about technology and do you enjoy acting as an agent for change, bringing people together to design and deliver world-class, scalable and secure solutions? If so, we’d like to hear from you.

We are currently seeking a Chief Architect;someone who is highly collaborative and empathic, a great listener who is able to surface and evolve people’s ideas, unite people when reaching difficult decisions, deals well with ambiguity and is highly capable of leading by influence. The person we are looking for will be a motivator, a mentor and a technical role model, guiding and encouraging Agile Architecture across all levels of the business with experience in Cloud Native architectures and Data Platforms.

In this role, you will have the ability to fundamentally shape the technical direction and architectural design of the next generation of IDBS’ SaaS solutions. As part of this you will:

  • Be a strong proponent of Agile Architecture; a consummate technologist who leads by influence and works across the various IDBS organisations and business units to surface and articulate an enterprise-level technology strategy which is aligned to and supportive of IDBS’ product strategy and longer-term business objectives.
  • Enable Agile Architecture practices across IDBS’ Value Streams, to surface and collaboratively define and evolve a coherent enterprise-level technology roadmap and Architectural Runway, which supports IDBS’ business objectives. This role will provide guidance and counsel to the Product and Engineering teams on Data Centric Architectures, ‘best practice’ Architectural Design Patterns and architectural guidelines and guardrails. This role will also provide guidance to executive and senior leaders as well as technology professionals on industry technology trends and opportunities.

Here is what success in this role looks like:

You will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of Agile methods, paradigms and tools to promote the development, implementation and adoption of Agile Architecture best practices and continuous improvement for the organisation.
  • Act as an agent for change, fostering fundamental shifts in process or technology use across IDBS’ Value Streams.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to act as a coach and, where appropriate, a mentor to senior leaders and junior team members alike to foster a culture of critical thinking, integration and synthesis, thereby improving organisational effectiveness.
  • Be an expert with architectural design patterns, modelling and design methodologies, while continually evaluating emerging technologies and see ‘around the corner’ to determine and propose how these could further IDBS’ technology and business ambitions.
  • Extend IDBS’ body of knowledge, acting as a significant contributor to IDBS’ technology ambitions and direction.
  • Proactively develop an understanding of and insights into IDBS’ operating model, technology foundations and strategic technology direction, providing co-ordination across these programs. You will be able to assess and analyse difficult requirements and develop innovative models and possess a solid understanding of modern engineering practices and technologies. Furthermore, you will act as a recognized authority in multiple architecture and technology areas and be recognized internally as a highly capable technologist who provides guidance, advice and direction on a range of architecture and technology topics.
  • Be a selfless, apolitical altruist who always leaves their ego at the door and encourages others to do the same.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Agile Architecture and Scaled Agile Framework methodologies and practices.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Centric models; Data Architectures & Design Patterns with a good understanding of Data Management & Data Governance principles.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
