About The Role

Business Intelligence Developer - LiveWest

Are you passionate about turning data into actionable insights? Do you thrive on solving complex data challenges and collaborating with cross-functional teams? We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Business Intelligence Team and help shape the future of data-driven decision-making at LiveWest.

Working closely with our Information Platform Development Team and stakeholders across the business, you will help shape and enhance the Information Management Platform (IMP) – an integrated solution consisting of a comprehensive data warehouse and Power BI reporting ecosystem to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets that drive actionable insights using DAX and SQL to support analytical needs.
  • Transform business requirements into technical specifications, applying STAR schema and Kimball dimensional modelling to optimise data structures for performance and usability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to decentralise data access and empower decision-makers.
  • Optimise performance of data models and reports through proper design and query tuning.
  • Support the extension and maintenance of our Data Warehouse to enable reporting requirements to be delivered.
  • Develop and manage a backlog of user stories, delivering high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Stay current with emerging BI technologies and recommend continuous improvements to existing solutions.

This role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. Hybrid working is available for this role working 2 - 3 days per week in the Exeter office, dependent on business need.

About The Candidate

BI Developer - Role Requirements

To be successful in your application for the role of Business Intelligence Developer, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role-specific skills and experience:

  • Experience in developing useful data visualisations in Power BI.
  • The demonstrable ability to develop and maintain code in SQL and DAX using SSMS, Visual Studio and Power BI.
  • Experience with building, maintaining and optimising Tabular Models.
  • Experience with T-SQL development (with an emphasis on Data Warehousing) using recent versions of SQL Server or Azure SQL database.
  • Experience with reporting mechanisms such as queries, shared datasets, data sources, data cubes and data models.
  • Experience with a Data Warehouse development lifecycle and an understanding of development, test and/or production environments.
  • Experience with concepts such as dimensional modelling and data transformation.
  • To be educated to degree level, or possess equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
