This role is for a Data Analysis Engineer - BMS Algorithm based at our customer's site in Gaydon. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses activities under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. ESS also integrates processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity to ensure ASPICE compliance and to deliver reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.


The Role

We are looking for a forward-thinking engineer to lead data analysis and the development of BMS algorithms for next-generation battery management systems. You will be part of a dynamic team driving innovation in energy storage technologies, ensuring functional integrity and regulatory alignment in algorithm development.


Area of Responsibility

  • Compliance & Controls

    • Design, implement, and maintain control frameworks to ensure battery algorithm development
    • Collaborate with internal audit, finance, and engineering teams to support documentation and testing of controls
    • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for assessments


  • Algorithm Development

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design algorithms for battery state estimation, performance optimization, and degradation modelling
    • Validate models using statistical methods and simulation tools to meet safety, efficiency, and reliability goals


  • Data Analysis & Insights

    • Analyse high-resolution battery data from field units and test environments
    • Build pipelines to process, visualize, and extract trends that inform algorithmic performance
    • Apply machine learning techniques to enhance anomaly detection and predictive maintenance


  • Cross-functional Collaboration

    • Interface with software, hardware, and compliance teams to drive integrated product development
    • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to process improvement initiatives



Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of BMS
  • Proficient in Python, MATLAB, or similar for modeling and data analysis
  • Experience in battery systems, embedded control algorithms, or energy storage technologies
  • Familiarity with statistical validation techniques and machine learning concepts

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience with battery hardware, cell instrumentation, or BMS platforms
  • Exposure to functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
  • Strong documentation and communication abilities
