AsBusiness Intelligence Engineering Lead, you will be stepping into a critical role and you will be responsible for leading us on our exciting BI journey of transformation and improvement. You will be our champion of change on how information is delivered across the business, setting the BI framework and standards ensuring that the highest quality and consistency is met within a timely and effective way.
 

Your responsibilities are to include:


• Deliver visualisations to aid the understanding of data, deliver insights and tangible value, build appropriate solutions in line with BI standards
• To produce efficient and effective reports and dashboards that meet the business requirements, support KPI management and effective decision making in Southern Water
• Analyse business requirements, source systems and business processes to ensure data is being used correctly when creating performance reporting (KPI’s, metrics and measures)
• Identify data quality issues and where possible propose solutions to improve data quality
• Own the responsibility for testing, certification, and promotion of content for BI, this includes small change and new products
• Support the business with knowledge transfer, testing, documentation, and service acceptance
• Work with Data Engineers to build an effective data model for BI (consumption, presentation, semantic layers) to maximise efficiency and democratisation
• Work with IT to understand the implications of system changes on performance reporting outputs
• Support the review and transition from Qlikview to Qliksense & Power BI

• Provide support and facilitate growth in your team.



Skills and experience needed:


• Excellent understanding of the use of visualisations to aid the understanding of data and insight is essential as is significant working knowledge of Power BI, Qlik (View and Sense), Alteryx and other BI tools.
• Strong understanding of Azure services and what is needed to build and maintain data pipelines in ADF, Databricks, Synapse and similar services.
• Understanding of data modelling techniques to support effective and efficient delivery of BI use cases, ability to comprehend BI needs and communicate across functions.
• Excel in problem solving, a passion for data and excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in planning and executing automation activities to improve quality of delivery and streamline activities
• Ability to think outside the box and have a collaborative and open approach, ensuring appropriate governance, to change management as well as the ability to drive the business forward to a common goal.
