<span style="font-family:"Calibri", sans-serif" lang="EN-GB">We are seeking anAI Life Sciences Researcherwith deep expertise in biology and chemistry to join a strategic AI project. This role focuses on evaluating, assessing risks, and addressing ethical considerations in applying advanced AI systems to life sciences. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and responsible use of AI technology in domains such as synthetic biology and drug discovery.

Requirements


Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Analysis:Conduct risk assessments specific to AI applications in life sciences, identifying potential misuse scenarios and establishing safeguards for sensitive use cases.
  • Safety and Ethical Framework Development: Collaborate with AI safety and ethics researchers to create frameworks for responsible AI use in life sciences, contributing to policy recommendations and industry standards.
  • Data Analysis and Model Evaluation: Analyze complex biological and chemical datasets for AI models, providing insights into model behavior, accuracy, and limitations in life science applications.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers, data scientists, and cybersecurity experts, to ensure AI applications meet safety and ethical standards.
  • Research and Documentation: Produce comprehensive reports on model evaluations, societal impacts, and scientific findings, documenting risk assessment processes and best practices.

Key Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:Ph.D. or Master’s in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field with a focus on AI or machine learning applications.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience in life sciences AI applications, such as model development, bioinformatics, or complex data analysis.
    • Familiarity with AI safety protocols, ethical AI guidelines, and biological/chemical regulatory standards.
  • Certifications:
    • Certified inAI Ethics and Complianceor equivalent (e.g., AI Ethics Certificate, Certified AI Safety Specialist) preferred.
    • Certifications inData ProtectionandBiosecurity Standardsare advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills for interpreting biological/chemical data and integrating it with AI model outcomes.
    • Expertise in conducting thorough risk assessments to evaluate societal and public health impacts.
  • Experience:Previous experience in fields like genomics, pharmaceutical AI, synthetic biology, or biosecurity is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent skills in technical documentation and the ability to clearly present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security Clearance:Must have or be eligible for SC Clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in threat modeling techniques and mitigation of misuse risks related to life sciences.
  • Understanding of the societal impacts of AI applications in life sciences and the ability to contribute to policy discussions.
Experience working with regulatory compliance frameworks, such as GDPR and biosecurity standards, with a focus on AI applications in scientific fields.
