About the Job

We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist to support the implementation of a robust enterprise-wide data governance framework within a Microsoft-based data platform. This role focuses on Microsoft Purview deployment, metadata management, data lineage, policy enforcement, data quality, and integrations with key systems including SAP BW/4HANA and legacy SQL environments. The consultant will collaborate with multidisciplinary Data & AI teams to strengthen data-driven decision‑making and improve data governance capabilities.


Responsibilities

  • Assess current data governance practices and identify gaps
  • Design and implement Purview capabilities: metadata cataloguing, classification, data lineage, RBAC and policies
  • Integrate Purview with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Power BI, SAP BW/4HANA and SQL repositories
  • Support API ingestion pipelines for semi‑structured data
  • Build governance workflows and stewardship models
  • Onboard and train internal users on governance processes
  • Develop documentation and training materials for long‑term sustainability
  • Implement customizable data quality checks
  • Collaborate with Data Architects, BI Engineers, Data Scientists and Business Analysts to deliver enterprise‑level governance solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric suite
  • Experience in enterprise data governance implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver end‑to‑end data tooling
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, Bash/PowerShell (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with IaC and CI/CD (a plus)
  • Understanding of public‑sector or international data environments (a plus)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills
  • Teamwork, adaptability and a results‑oriented mindset
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, IT, or similar fields
  • Certifications such as DP‑600/700 or SC‑200/400 are highly valued
