Robert Half is supporting their client, a Global Consulting Firm, in their search for a Data Architect to join as an associate and lead the data architecture strategy for a major financial trading commodities programme.This 12-month programme is focused on transformation across trading domains, requiring a high-calibre architect with deep experience in trading environments and complex data landscapes.

Contract Assignment Details:

  • Location:Hybrid in the City of London c. 1-2 days p/week.
  • Duration:12 months contract
  • Day Rate:c.£550-£600 p/day via FCSA Accredited umbrella company.

Role Overview:The Data Architect will be responsible for shaping, governing, and aligning data architecture across a high-impact trading environment. This includes designing scalable, secure, and efficient data models, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting real-time and historical trading analytics across the full data lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architecture Ownership:Define and govern end-to-end data architecture across the trading commodities landscape.
  • Solution Design:Translate business and regulatory needs into scalable architectural blueprints and standards.
  • Data Modelling & Governance:Develop enterprise-level models and ensure data quality, lineage, and accessibility across functions.
  • Integration Leadership:Work closely with application, infrastructure, and trading analytics teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Liaise with senior stakeholders across IT, Risk, and Trading to ensure alignment and effective delivery.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Data Architect within commodities trading environments.
  • Background in metals and/or energy trading preferred.
  • Experience working within or alongside major players such as Shell, BP, or similar.
  • Proven ability to design and implement enterprise-wide data solutions in complex, regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of data platforms, governance frameworks, and real-time data processing in trading settings.
